You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Lets call Springsteen's revenue x
ok so
Springsteen's revenue = x
We are told that Celine took $35.4 million less than Bruce Springsteen.
So if Springsteen's revenue = x then,
Celine's revenue = x - 35.4
We are also told that toether they took in $196.4 million.
So Springsteen's revenue plus Celine's revenue equals $196.4 million
Now write an equation and solve for x
x + x - 35.4 = 196.4
combine like term
2x - 35.4 = 196.4
add 35.4 to each side
2x - 35.4 + 35.4 = 196.4 + 35.4
2x = 231.8
divide both sides by 2
2x/2 = 231.8/2
x = 115.9
Answer: Springsteen took in $115.9 million
now use that to find Celine's revenue
Celine's revenue = x - 35.4
Celine's revenue = 115.9 - 35.4
Celine's revenue = 80.5
Answer: Celine took in $80.5 million
Check answers:
Their combined revenue should equal $196.4 million
115.9 + 80.5 = 196.4
196.4 = 196.4
