Question 260097: hello I have got a question from my homework that states that i am a lab technician that needs to make 60ml of 32% nitric acid solution. The acid solutions available are 20% nitric acid solution and 40% nitric acid solution.How many milliliters of each solution should be mixed to make the 32% solution. I have read this question several times and don't know what they are asking me to do and i cannot understand how to get the solution. I hope you understand my question i have tried to make it very clear and am sorry if this is considered -dump your whole homework in one question- because i really am not trying to i just don't understand the question. Question 259977: let y=(-7,-6,-2), u1=(6,-6,1), u2=(-4,2,36). Compute the distance d from y to the plane in R3, spanned by u1 and u2. The distance d is supposed to be the shortest distance and I understand that to be the length from y to where it is perpendicular to the plane. The confusion is with a method that uses a normal vector to the plane and is that now considered the projection of y onto the normal vector such that I am now looking for the parallel component of y on a? Can you provide a visual model perhaps?

Question 260168: #25 This question involves to find parallel and perpendicular lines.
Find the equation of the line containing the point (4,1) and perpendicular to the line y=-3x+4.
I believe I do y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-1=4(x-4)
y=4x-16+1
y=x-17/4
However, I know this is wrong. the answer is supposed to be y=1/3x-1/3. I have no idea what I need to do. Any help would be appreciated.
