x the one person's share: (the other (4/6)x)
x + (4/6)x = 80
(10/6)x = 80
x = 80(6/10)
x = $48 and the other $32

$80 is divided between two men such that one-quarter of one person's share is equal to 1/6 of the other. How much will each man receive?
-----
Let the shares be "x" and "80-x"::
------
Equation:
(1/4)x = (1/6)(80-x)
--------------------
Multiply both sides by 12 to get
3x = 2(80-x)
3x = 160-2x
5x = 160
x = 32 (one man's ahare)
80-x = 48 (other man's share)
