The sum of three consecutive integers is 114.
Find the largest of these integers.
Let the three consecutive integers be:
x
x + 1 and
x + 2
Therefore:
x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 114
3x + 3 = 114
Subtract 3 from each side of the equation.
3x = 111
x = 37
Answer:
The three consecutive integers are:
37, 38 and 39.
And the largest is 39.
