Question 68913: Solve. 10(–x – 7) + 20 = –5(2x + 4)

(10-(x)+10-(7))+ 20 = -5(2x + 4)
(-10x-10*7)+ 20 = -5 (2x + 4)
(-10x-70) + 20 = -5 (2x + 4)
-10x-70 + 20 = -5 (2x + 4)
-10x-50 = -5 (2x + 4)
-10x-50 = -5 (2x)-5*4
-10x-50 = -5*2x-20
-10x-50 = -10x-20
-50 = -20

I know this is not right because I ended up with two answers. Can you see where I went wrong and tell me how to get the right answer for this equation. Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Well, there's nothing wrong with your math!
I got the same answer.
What it does reveal is that there is that there is no solution to this equation. In other words, there is no value of x that will satisfy this equation.
