Question 653419: Jacob has 5 tests this semester. His first test was an 80% . He wants to determine if he can still earn at least a 90% . What is the average score he must on the remaining 4 tests to get an a? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
In order to have a final average over 5 tests be 90, then the sum of all 5 scores must be 5 times 90. Subtract 80 from that product, then divide by 4 to get the average required for the next 4 tests.
