Question 601697: HI there, I'm having issues with some physics equations i'm trying to figure out. here's the first one: Amadeus drove due north for 6.2 hours at 3.0 kilometers per hour. Then he drove 60 kilometers due east at 12 kilometers per hour. How far did he travel? What was his average speed? What was his displacement? What was his average velocity?
Another one is: Write -10+4j in polar form..O.O i take it I have to draw a geometric figure?
Another one is with using unit multipliers to convert. : 52 miles per hour to kilometers per second & 66 cubic yards to cubic meters...
Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Amadeus drove due north for 6.2 hours at 3.0 kilometers per hour. Then he drove 60 kilometers due east at 12 kilometers per hour. How far did he travel? What was his average speed? What was his displacement? What was his average velocity?
--------------
North leg: 6.2*3 = 18.6 km
East leg: 60 km
-------
How far did he travel::: 18.6+60 = 78.6 km
------
What was his average speed?
ave. speed = total distance/total time = (6.2+(60/12)] = 6.2+5 = 11.2 hrs
ave speed = 78.6/11.2 = 7.018 km/hr
------------------------------------------
What was his displacement?
dist from start = sqrt[18.6^2+60^2] = 62.82 km
------
What was his average velocity?
Ans: 62.82/11.2 = 5.609 km/hr

Another one is: Write -10+4j in polar form..O.O i take it I have to draw a geometric figure?
r = sqrt(10^2+4^2) = 10.77
theta = arctan(4/(-10)) = -21.8
But theta is in the 2nd Quadrant so it is 180-21.8 = 159.2 degrees
----
Ans: -10+4j = 10.77[cos(159.2)+ isin(159.2)]
==============================================
Another one is with using unit multipliers to convert. :
52 miles per hour to kilometers per second
52(miles/hr)[1 hr/3600 sec][1.613 km/1 mile] = (52*1*1.613)/(1*3600*1)(km/sec
= 0.0233 km/sec
==========================
66 cubic yards to cubic meters...
66 (yds)^3 [0.9144 meter/1 yrd]^3 = (66*0.9144^3)cubic meters = 50.46 cubic meters
