Question 1043762: I am confused with what a subset is and how it is used differently in problems. I'm also confused with what set and set notations are. Thank you for your help, I look forward to your reply.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! A set is a collection of things, stuff, items, list of ideas, list of concepts.
A subset is things which are PART OF the set. A subset can be just parts of the set, or can be the whole set.
GOOD? One simple example.
Here are even numbers:
..., -8, -6, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12,...
You can call that, the set of even numbers.
The numbers which are the even integral factors of 3 are these:
..., -12, -6, 0, 6, 12, 18,...
and this set is a SUBSET of the set of the even integers.
