You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In general rate times time equals distance, or rt = d.
Rate, r = d/t.
In this problem, remembering that 15 minutes is 1/4 hour, r = (3/4)/(1/4) = 3 miles per hour.
Now, d = rt = (3 mph)(1 1/3 hour) = 4 miles

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
[ distance ] = [ rate ] x [ time ]
You can convert all the times to minutes
or you can convert them to hours
I'll convert to hours
---------------------
[ minutes ] x [ hrs / min ] = [ hrs ]
+15%2A%28+1%2F60+%29+=+1%2F4+ hrs
and
+20%2A%28+1%2F60+%29+=+1%2F3+ hrs
--------------------
Sean's rate walking is:
+%28%283%2F4%29%29+%2F+%28%281%2F4%29%29+=+%283%2F4%29%2A4+
+%283%2F4%29%2A4+=+3+ mi/hr
-------------------------
[ distance ] = [ rate ] x [ time ]
+d+=+r%2At+
+d+=+3%2A%28+1+%2B+1%2F3+%29+
+d+=+3%2A%28+4%2F3+%29+
+d+=+4+ mi
He can walk 4 mi in 1 hr and 20 min
