Question 1127372: Find the values of x and y that make the equation true.
10x-4i=5%2B28iy
By the way, x and y are variables and i is imaginary number. We have covered complex numbers, imaginary numbers, factoring, square rooting, Quadratic formula and equations, but I still don't know what to do. I was thinking about making it equal to 0 but it isn't standard form. I do not know what the first step that I need to take is, please help?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
Then it means that

    10x = 5     (1)

and

    -4 = 28y,   (2)

which implies  x = 5%2F10 = 1%2F2   and   y = -4%2F28 = -1%2F7.

That's all.

Complex numbers are equal if and only if their real parts are equal AND their imaginary parts are equal, too.
