You can put this solution on YOUR website! you are starting with (2 - 4i) / (8i) multiply numerator and denominator by i to get:
 ((2 - 4i) * i) / (8i * i)
 multiply these out to get:
 (2i-4i^2)/8i^2
since i^2 is equal to sqrt(-1)^2 which is equal to -1, you can substitute (-1) for i^2 to get:
 (2i + 4) / -8
since 2 goes into 4 and 8, you can simplify this fraction to get:
 (i + 2) / -4
since you have to separate the real part from the imaginary part, this becomes:
i/-4 + 2/-4 which is re-written with the real part first as:
-2/4 - i/4 which can be simplified to:
 -1/2 - (1/4)i
