Question 162465: This is from a worksheet. I think I have the right answer, but am not sure.
FIND THE VALUE OF THE DISCRIMINANT FOR 9X^2+1=6X. tHEN DESCRIBE THE NUMBER AND TYPE OF ROOTS FOR THE EQUATION.
First i changed it to 9x^2-6x+1=0
a=9 b=-6 c=1
b^2-4ac=(-6)^2-4*(9)*(1)
=36-36
=0
One rational root.
Did i do this right?
Thanks
Yes you are correct, there will be one rational root with multiplicity 2 (I am not sure if you have learned about multiplicity yet)
