8-abs%283x-2%29-8=5-8 Subtract 8 from both sides.


-abs%283x-2%29=-3


-1%2A%28-abs%283x-2%29%29=-1%2A%28-3%29 Multiply both sides by -1.


abs%283x-2%29=3


3x-2=3 or 3x-2=-3 Break up the absolute value

Let's solve the first equation 3x-2=3 for x


3x-2=3


3x-2%2B2=3%2B2


3x=5


x=5%2F3
