You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve for x:
A:
abs%28x-2%29+=+8 When you remove the absolute-value bars, you get two equations:
x-2+=+8 and x-2+=+-8 Add 2 to both sides of each equation.
x+=+10 and x+=+-6
Check:
abs%2810-2%29+=+8 so abs%288%29+=+8
abs%28-6-2%29+=+8 so abs%28-8%29+=+8
B:
abs%28x%2B6%29+=+3 Remove the absolute-value bars.
x%2B6+=+3 and x%2B6+=+-3 Subtract 6 from both sides of each equation.
x+=+-3 and x+=+-9
Check:
abs%28-3%2B6%29+=+3 so abs%283%29+=+3
abs%28-9%2B6%29+=+3 so abs%28-3%29+=+3
