The easiest way is to add zero's so that the numbers all have the same decimal places, so we get
6.305, 6.350,6.035 and 6.500.
Now they all have the same number of decimal places, 4.
Now forget about the decimal points so we get
6305, 6350, 6035 and 6500.
These whole numbers are much easier to compare!
putting these in order we get, smallest to largest,
6035, 6305, 6350 and 6500.
Now put the decimal points back in and remove those zeros!
6.035, 6.305, 6.35 and 6.5.
The proper way.......If you can follow it!
decimal numbers, that is numbers after the decimal point have values according to their position.
The first number after the decimal point is worth a tenth of a whole one.
so 3.8 has 3 whole ones and 8 tenths so could be written as 3
The second number after the decimal point are worth a hundredth of a whole one.
so 15.07 is 15
if there are two digits after the decimal point we call them all hundredths
so 8.59 is 8
To compare decimals we first compare tenths so 5.3 is bigger than 5.27
because 3 is larger than 2
if the tenths are the same we compare hundredths so 6.35 is bigger than 6.309
because 5 is bigger than 0.
