Question 16448: the formula of the perimeter of a rectangle is p=2L+2W, where L is the length and W is the width. a rectangle has a perimeter of 24 inches. find its dimension if its length is 3 inches grater than its width Answer by pwac(253) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! let x be the width
and x+3 be the length put these into your formula
p=2(x+3)+2(x)
24=2x+6+2x
24=4x+6subtract 6 from both sides
18=4x divide both sides by 4
4=x the width
so length= 4+3=7
