Start the saem way you do when there is an equal sign. When evaluating absolute values, you need to break the equation into 2 parts.
+abs%28s%2B4%29+%3E+2
breaks into
+s%2B4+%3E+2 and +s%2B4+%3C+-2
Now solve each part for s
+s%2B4+%3E+2
+s+%3E+-2
+s%2B4+%3C+-2
+s+%3C+-6
