Let x be the potential values of the temperatures between maxim and minimum

Average is73 deg

Variation is 15 deg, which means deviation of 15/2 = 7.5 degrees in each directions from the average 73 degrees.

Thus the absolute value equation is 

    |x-73| = 7.5  degrees.    ANSWER

Solved correctly.
