In quadrant 1, with x%3E=0 and y%3E=0 ,
abs%28x%29%2Babs%28y%29=5 simplifies to x%2By=5 ,
which is the equation of the straight luine connecting (0,5) to (5,0) .
It is obvious that the graph of abs%28x%29%2Babs%28y%29=5
is symmetrical about the x-axis
(because replacing -y for y gives the same equation) .
It is similarly symmetrical about the y-axis for the similar reason taht
replacing -x for x yields the same eqiuation.
With all of the above, the conclusion is that
the graph is a square with corners pointing up, down, left and right.
