Question 923842: A suqare prism has its base edges 5 cm each. Its length is 30 cm. The biggest possible cylinder is cut out of it. find the volume of the wood leftover? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Volume of a square prism = Base area x height
Volume of cylinder = pi x r^2 x h
Volume of prism = 5 x 5 x 30 = 750 cm^3
Using 2.5 cm for the largest possible radius
The volume of the cylinder = pi x 2.5^2 x 30
= 589.1 cm^3
750 - 589.1 = 160.9 cm^3 wood left over.
Hope this helps.
