Question 53833: A room requires the ventilation system to produce 8 air exchanges per hour. This means that every hour the ventilation system must move a volume of air equal to 8 times the volume of the room. The area of the rectangular floor of the room is x square feet. The rectangular walls are 10 feet high. In terms of x, how many cubic feet of air must the ventilation syastem move per hour. ( I am a Mom trying to help my child with a practice SAT. I can't figure this out!)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
IF THE AREA OF THE FLOOR IS X SQUARE FEET (X^2) & THE WALLS ARE 10 FEET HIGH THEN THE VOLUME OF THE ROOM IS X^2 FEET*10 FEET OR 10X^3 FEET
THUS 8*10X^3=80X^3 (80 CUBIC FEET) OF AIR MUST BE REMOVED PER HOUR.
THE 80X^3 FEET IS READ 80X CUBIC FEET. THAT'S THE VOLUME OF THE ROOM (10^3 FEET) TIMES 8
