The volume of the sphere is
V+=+4%2Api%2Ar%5E3%2F3
V+=+4%2Api%2A27%2F3
V = 36 pi cc = ~113 cc
But the cubes don't conform to the shape of the sphere, making this a difficult problem. I think it's beyond the scope of almost all classes.
Even working in 2 dimensions, putting 1 cm squares inside a 6 cm dia circle is complicated.
