You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the angle (rounded to the nearest 10 minutes) between the following pair of vectors:
u=-i-4j
and
v=3i-4j
-------------
Angle to terminal point of u = atan(4) =~ 255.96 degs
Angle to terminal point of v = atan(-4/3) =~ 306.87 degs
--> Angle between =~ 50.906 degs
= 50 degs 50'
=========================
Using trig:
Make a triangle OUV, O at Origin, U((-1,-4), V(3,-4)
Side o = UV = 4
Side u = OV = 5
Side v = OU = sqrt(17)
Find angle O
Use the Cosine Law
----
4^2 = 25 + 17 - 2*5*sqrt(17)*cos(O)
cos%28O%29+=+-26%2F%28-10sqrt%2817%29%29+=+13sqrt%2817%29%2F85
O = 50.906 degs
