step 1 - distribute on both sides to get
(ii) 3-4x%2B8+=+9-3x
combine like terms to get
(iii) -4x+%2B+11+=+9+-+3x
add 4x to both sides to get
(iv) 11+=+9+%2B+x
subtract 9 to get
(v) 2+=+x
