The Law of Cosines is very useful when it comes to trig problems. It can be used when the Law of Sines fail (click here to see the Law of Sines lesson). It comes in 3 forms, {{{c^2=a^2+b^2-2ab(cos(C))}}}, {{{a^2=b^2+c^2-2bc(cos(A))}}}, and {{{b^2=a^2+c^2-2ac(cos(B))}}}. The lowercase letters are the sides and the uppercase letters are the angles. Each side is opposite its corresponding angle. An example is shown here. *[illustration Law_of_Sines] This law will come in use during trigonometry.
