I take it is the jib of the
crane is moving.
Consider a right angled triangle
The jib is 26ft and using trigonometric
ratios.
Sin = Opposite/Hypotenuse
Sin 42 = Opposite/26 ft
So, opposite = 26 x Sin 42
Opposite (distance moved)
= 17.4ft (1 decimal place)
Now consider another right
angled triangle.
Once again we use:
Sin = Opposite/Hypotenuse
Sin73 = Opposite/26
Opposite (Distance moved)
= 26 x Sin 73
= 24.9 ft
Totalled = 17.4 + 24.9
= 42.3 feet.
