You can put this solution on YOUR website! A surveyor measures the angle of elevation of eye level to the top of a building 60 metres. If he is standing 40 metres away from the building and is 1.6 metres tall. How tall is the building?
can you please help me out i dont really get this question? thanks in advance
for the first question it is the distance from his eye to the top of the building is 60 meters
------
Draw the picture:
You have a right triangle
hypotenuse = 60 meters
base = 40 meters
height = sqrt(60^2-40^2) = sqrt(3200) = 40sqrt(2) meters
----
Total height of the building is 1.6 meters + 40sqrt(2) meters
-----
Approximate answer: 1.6+40sqrt(2) = 58.169 meters (height of the bldg)
