There is something wrong here because the left side is NOT equal to the right side.

Please correct and re-post. If the problem is supposed to be:

then the error is that there were no parentheses to indicate that both the 1 and the cot were part of the same numerator. Always use parentheses around multiple-term numerators (or denominators):
