How can I find the exact value of Sin 480 degrees?

The problem is to find the reference angle and the quadrant it is in.
Starting from zero and going counter-clockwise, make one revolution which covers 360º.
To cover 480º you need to go another 120º. This puts you in quadrant II where the sin function is positive. The reference angle is the angle the terminal side makes with the x-axis, which would be 60º in this case. Therfore, Sin 480º= Sin 60º in quadrant II=√3/2
