there are 16 values, so we look at the two values in the middle, that is, there are 7 values below and 7 values above
:
the two values in the middle are 2, 2 and the average is (2+2)/2 = 2, this is the median
:
the lower extreme is 0 and the upper extreme is 9
:
the values below 2 are 0,1,1,1,1,1,2 and the value in the middle is 1

the values above 2 are 3,4,5,5,7,8,9 and the value in the middle is 5

therefore we have 0 and 9 at the extremes, 1 is the lower quartile and 5 is the upper quartile

draw a number line from 0 to 10 and plot 0 1 2 5 9 as 5 points say 2 units above the number line, then draw a horizontal line connecting the 5 points
