SOLUTION: Simplify the following expression
(1 - csc^2(theta)) / (cot (theta))
I believe I have the answer but I can't tell if it is supposed to be -cot(theta) or just cot(theta).

Question 1013468: Simplify the following expression
(1 - csc^2(theta)) / (cot (theta))
I believe I have the answer but I can't tell if it is supposed to be -cot(theta) or just cot(theta). Found 2 solutions by Boreal, macston:Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! It is - cot (theta)
1-1/sin^2 theta=numerator. That is (sin^2 theta-1)/sin^2.
1-sin^2 theta is cos^2 theta
-(sin^2 theta-1)=1-sin^2 theta.
Therefore -cos^2 theta/sin^2 theta is numerator
Divide by cos theta/sin theta.
That give -cos theta/sin theta=-cot theta.
