*[youtube oyvkJNnKv3w] In this video lesson I discuss the basics of similar triangles: how to determine if two triangles are similar or not. Similar triangles, by definition, are just scaled versions of the same triangle. Recognizing them is similar to testing if two triangles are congruent. In this case, there is AAA, SSS, and SAS. If all three angles in two triangles are equal, then they are similar. If all three pairs of corresponding sides are in the same ratio, they are similar (this one is more of a definition). Finally, SAS means that, if two corresponding pairs of sides are in the same ratio, and the angle between these sides is the same, then the triangles are similar. I show a few examples of recognizing similar triangles to cement the idea. For more details see the video.
