Question 387274: the perimeter of a triangle is 30 inches. The first side of the triangle is 1 inch longer than the second side. The second side is 7 inches longer than the third side. Where is the length of each side of the triangle?
Let x the third side.Then x+7 is the second,and x+7+1 is the first...
So we have:
x+x+7+x+8=30
Then 3x+15=30
3x=30-15
3x=15
x=15/3
x=5
