The question is... We are trying to measure the height of a building. We have a 1-meter long stick. When we set it on the ground, its shadow is 3 meters long. When we measure the shadow of the building, it is 57 meters long. How high is the building?
The options for the answers are...
I am thinking the answer is 40 m but, I am not sure. I would be grateful for any help available.

Question 277136: I have a triangle PQR. Point G is located between P&Q and point J is located between P&R. Given the information below I need to find the values of x and y so that JG is parallel to RQ.
RQ=10
JG=8
PJ=8x-5
JR=x
PG=3y+2
QG=y
(I know that the answer's are 5/4 and 2 but I am not sure how??????)

Question 277897: I am having great difficulty with this problem.
I will try to explain the picture.
I have a right triangle ACB with (the 90 deg is at point C).
There is a line in the triangle EF parallel to AB.
There is also an altitude CD that starts at point C, passes through line EH, forming point H and hits line AB at point D.

Here is the question that baffles me.
If EF is parallel to AB, AD = 9, DB = 16, EC = 2(AE), find AE, AC, CF, CB, CD, and EF.
