1. If AF = 8, FB = 6, FG = 2, then what is EF?

2. If BC = 12 and GC = 6, what is EG?
3. What is the length of a segment whose endpoints are at (-1,4) and (3,1)?
I think I'm doing the wrong formulas to get my answer. Please help!

Question 1117101: What is the surface area of this square pyramid?
Height = 7 cm
Base = 4 cm
I got 74.24 and rounded it to the nearest tenth which would be 74.2. However this isn't the correct answer. Could someone please help? I googled and find some mentions of slanted heights if this might be the case of this equation. Thanks.

So I have a triangle (△PQR) and it's perimeter is 40.
In △PQR, there is an angle bisector (PL).
Given: Perimeter of △PQR = 40; LR = 15; LQ = 9
FIND PQ
The answer is 6.
My problem is I don't know how to get the answer 6. I do know you have to do a proportion but from all the numbers I've tried, haven't been able to get 6.
