you have equation for triangle area is 1/2*height*base
Let the height be x, and the base will be 3x+2 (based on your question)
so we have the equation
+1%2F2+%2A+x+%2A+%283x%2B2%29+=+400+
3x%5E2+%2B+2x+=+800
3x%5E2+%2B+2x+-+800+=+0
solve the equation, you get x = 16 and x = -50/3
Of course the length can't be negative so you will take x = 16
The base will be 3x+2 = 3*16 + 2 = 50
