Question 831691: What is the value of the base of a triangle if area is 400 square cm. and it is two more than three times the length of the height? Answer by hovuquocan1997(83) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! you have equation for triangle area is 1/2*height*base
Let the height be x, and the base will be 3x+2 (based on your question)
so we have the equation
solve the equation, you get x = 16 and x = -50/3
Of course the length can't be negative so you will take x = 16
The base will be 3x+2 = 3*16 + 2 = 50
