the sum of any two sides must be more than the third side.
x+2x=3x
There would be no angle.

Think of it this way:
Lay the 3x side flat on a table
---------
Then hold the x side in one hand
and the 2x side in the other hand
and try to make a triangle
----------
The x and 2x add up to 3x, so they
will just barely touch when you
lay them flat against the 3x side.
so you can't make a triangle
