Question 584743: I need help solving this problem: You have climbed to the top of a tall tree. When you get to the top, you use your clinometer to discover that the angle between the tree and the line of sight to your red lunchbox is 30o. You know you left the lunchbox 20 meters from the base of the tree. How tall is the tree?
I have seen another answer for this question on here, but it wasnt solve fully so i couldnt finish solving it. This was it: 20/x = tan(30) then you solve for x 20/tan(30) = 20 (sqrt)3 = 34.64 HELP ME!! please? Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! your solution is in the picture below:
the angle between the line of sight of the lunchbox and the tree vertical is 30 degrees represented by angle BAC.
the angle between the line of sight of the lunchbox and the ground is 60 degrees represented by angle ACB.
i believe this is what you described.
