You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The hypotenuse of an isosceles right triangle is 2 centimeters longer than either of its legs. Find the exact length of each side.
let x be the legs
x+2 = hypotenuse
x^2+x^2=(x+2)^2
2x^2=x^2+4x+4
x^2-4x-4=0
use quadratic formula
b^2-4ac= 32
..
x1=%284%2Bsqrt%2832%29%29%2F2
x1=4.828
x2=%284-sqrt%2832%29%29%2F2
x2=-0.828 (ignore)
legs are 4.828 cm
hypotenuse = 6.828 cm
