Well, one thing you know for sure is...the length of the third side has to be shorter than the sum of the lengths of the other two sides, otherwise, you wouldn't have a triangle, would you?
Since the sum of the lengths of the two given sides is (10+4 = 14), the length of the third side must be less than 14.
The choices are: 6 or 8
