Formulate a new equation
(transposition)4x+y=23
we can get y=-4x+23 (eq.1a)
Substitute y=-4x+23 to the eq.2
x+y=8
x+(-4x+23)=8 (distribution)
x-4x+23=8
x-4x=8-23 (transposition)
-3x=15 (Simplify)
-3x/-3=15/-3
x=-5 (Ans.for the value of x)
To get the value of y.
Substitute x=-5 to given equations:
