where b is the base and h is the height. We are told in this problem that A=77 and that b is 3 more than h. So we can represent b with h+3. Thus we have the equation:
77=%281%2F2%29%28h%2B3%29h
154=h%5E2%2B3h
h%5E2%2B3h-154=0
%28h%2B14%29%28h-11%29=0
So we have that h=-14 or h=11. Since we can't have negative measurements, h must be 11. This means that b is 14 (since b is 3 more than h).
