the perimeter of a isosceles triangle is 30 in. its base is 8 in. how long are each of the other two sides?
------------------
Perimeter = base + 2*side
30 = 8 + 2x
22 = 2x
x = 11 in
Each of the equal sides is 11 in.

An isosceles triangle has two equal sides. The perimeter can be expressed as
P = 2a + b.
In our case, we have
30 = 2a + 8
subtract 8 to get
22 = 2a
divide by 2 to get
a = 11.
The other sides are both 11
