Question 228459: i have a project i am looking for an i need the angles for the triangle, the base of my project is 51 1/2 inches wide, when finished the project will be 36 inches high. i figure i should split the triangle into two congruent triangles. this would lead to two right triangles each with a base of 25 1/4 and a vertical of 36 inches. i need to know the remaining two angles.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
i have a project i am looking for an i need the angles for the triangle, the base of my project is 51 1/2 inches wide, when finished the project will be 36 inches high. i figure i should split the triangle into two congruent triangles. this would lead to two right triangles each with a base of 25 1/4 and a vertical of 36 inches. i need to know the remaining two angles.
.
If you are going to split your base of 51 1/2 inches, it would mean
25 3/4
Instead of the
25 1/4
.
To find the angles, you can apply trigonometry:
Let x = congruent angles at the base
then
tan x = 36/25.75
tan x = 36/25.75
x = 54.42 degrees (angle at the base of isosceles triangle)
.
Other angle:
180 - 2(54.42) = 180 - 108.85 = 71.15 degrees
.
Your three angles are:
54.42, 71.15 and 54.42 degrees
.
