.
A ladder is placed against a vertical wall with its foot on horizontal ground.
If the angle of inclination of the ladder to the horizontal is 39°
and the distance between the foot of the ladder and the wall is 4.7m,
calculate the length of the ladder correct to 1 d.p.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Make a sketch if you need it.
You have a right angled triangle.
One its leg  "a"  is  4.7 m.
The adjacent angle  is 39°.
They want you calculate the length of the hypotenuse "c".
Write
    cos(39°) = a%2Fc,
based on the definition of cosine.
From this equation
    c = a%2Fcos%2839%5Eo%29.
Use your calculator and complete the assignment on your own.
