How would I go about in finding the value of x?

From the triangles similarity, you have the proportion for corresponding sides:


x%2F8 = 4%2F6   (= the_shorter_leg%2Fthe_longer_leg ).


From the proportion,  x = %288%2A4%29%2F6 = 32%2F6 = 16%2F3.
