Question 45147: -find the mass and radius of three of the nine planets in our solar system. Be sure that the masses are expressed in kilograms and the radii are expressed in meters.
-Using your data, calculate the gravitational acceleration on each of the three planets you selected. Note: With the masses measured in kilograms and the radii in meters, the units of gravitational acceleration would turn out to be meters per squared seconds.
-Use the gravitational accelerations that you calculated in Step 2 to find the period of a 2 meter long simple pendulum on each of the three planets. Note: The length of a simple pendulum is normally expressed in meters, so it is sufficient to replace L with the number 2 in the period expression

Question 46930: Question #80: The altitude of an isosceles triangle drawn to its base is 3 centimeters, and its perimeter is 18 centimeters. Find the length of its base.
I wrote down the equation for the area of a triangle, but I don't recall from College Math how to find a triangle's perimeter. Area of a triangle: A=1/2(B)(H). I'm not sure how to solve this problem. Please help!

Question 46992: 1. What is the determinant of the matrix [-1 2][1 3]. The [1 3] is directly under the [-1 2] in the problem. I have no idea where to begin to solve this problem.
2. The below table gives some of the values of a 5th degree polynominal p(x). Based on the values shown, what it the minimum number of real roots fot the equation p(x)=0
x 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
p(x) -30 22 110 150 34 -130 222 2,350
I have no idea how to begin to solve this problem.

Question 48336: Find all solutions of the system: (hint: factor the left side of the second equation:
x-y = 3
x^3 - y^3 = 387
So now after factoring I have this new system:
x-y = 3
(x-y)(x^2 + xy + y^2)= 387
but now how do I continue the problem?
Thanks for all your help!

Question 48916: The product of twice a number increased by 5 and the number squared is 18.
This has to be written out in an equation and then solved. So far I have...
(2n+5)[(n)(n)]=18
then I can get it as simplified as
2(n)(n)(n)+5(n)(n)=18
is this right? (sorry I can't get my computer to type powers)
