question:WHAT TWO EQUATIONS WOULD YOU USE TO SOLVE THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM? the christmas talent show earned a total of $1248 for charity. if tickets costs $12 for adults and $8 for children,and there were 290 people who attended,how many of each type of ticket was sold?
so heres what ive done so far
x=adults tickets($12) the dot equals multiplied by
y=childrens tickets(8)
=290
x.y=290(1248)
x(12).y(8)=290(1248)
and thats where i get stuck

X SHOULD REPRESENT PEDALING TIME IN MINUTES AND Y REPRESENTS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CALORIES BURNED. WRITE THE EQUATION RELATING TIME TO TOTAL CALORIES BURNED.

Question 401034: I need help with this question please. I have done the work but I get stuck when it comes to plugging it back into the equation.
2x+3y= -4
4x+y= -3
I have:
-4x+6y= -8
4x+y= -3
The 4's cancel and I am left with 7y= -11
I divided the 7 and have -11 over 7 for y.
I don't understand how to plug it back into the equation.
