Question 140798: The path of a fallen object is given by the function s= -16t^2+v0t+s0, where v0 represents the initial velocity in ft/sec and s0 represents the initial height. The variable t is time in seconds and s is the height of the object in feet.
If a rock is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 32 feet per second from the top of a 40 foot building, how high is the rock after 0.5 seconds? After how many seconds will the rock reach maximum height?
Ive already answered the first question, i think it is 52 feet. Is this correct?

Question 141993: What are the steps taken to solve this problem algebraically?
5-(2)/(x-6) = (10-2x)/(x-6)
I know that first i have to find the LCD which is 6, then multiply that times both sides of the equation. I also know that the answer will be x=6 because of the denominator (it has a variable)and it can't possibly be a solution. Can you help me set this equation up step by step so that i can see exactly how the answer is obtained

Question 142781: Solve the system by the elimination method.
0.3x-0.2y=4
0.4x+0.5y=-55/17
Multiply equations by 10 to eliminate decimals.
3x-2y=40
4x+5y= -550/17
Then to eliminate y multiply the first equation by5 and the second equation by 2.
15x-10y=200
8x+10y=-1100/17
I have no idea what do do from here...Everytime I try my fractions come out wrong and I get lost.
