Let x represent long sleeve then (36-x) is the number of shortsleeved    

 18x + 12(36-x) = $522

       6x = 522 - 12*36

       6x = 522 - 432

        6x = 90

         x = 15, number of short sleeved.  21 long leveed shirts    36-15
